Frequently Asked Questions
Tuition
How much is tuition for the mid-high and high school?
Mid-high tuition is $5,670 and high school tuition is $6,490.
Do we get a discount for additional students?
Yes. Tuition decreases by $1,000 for the second student enrolled, $1,200
for the third student enrolled (siblings from the same family).
Tuition Assistance
I have a student at a Catholic elementary school. Do I get a discount
and is there a discount for Catholics?
No, there are no discounts because Blanchet Catholic School is a separate
entity. Tuition is the same rate for all students.
How do I apply for
tuition assistance?
There is a limited amount of tuition assistance available each year.
Parents apply through FACTS, which requires current tax information.
For first round awards, FACTS forms must be postmarked by March 1.
Forms are mailed to FACTS, which sends a report to Blanchet with suggested
tuition assistance amounts. Blanchet Catholic
School determines the individual awards based on this report. All information
is kept strictly confidential.
Who qualifies for tuition assistance & how much assistance can I expect?
Tuition assistance is determined based on the familys income, number
of dependents and any extenuating circumstances; therefore no specific dollar
amount automatically qualifies a family. Tuition assistance awards vary
depending on each familys financial situation.
When will I be notified of how much assistance I have been granted?
For first round awards, tuition assistance award letters will be
mailed by April 13. Signing and
returning the acceptance letter within seven days indicates acceptance of
the award.
What if I decide not to accept the
tuition assistance award do I
receive the registration fee and comprehensive fee back?
The $100 registration fee is not refundable. However, the $375 comprehensive
fee is refundable if we are not able to meet your financial needs.
Tuition Payments
What is the FACTS program and when do tuition payments begin?
The FACTS program is a tuition collection agency that helps improve the schools
cash flow, reduces the staffs involvement in the task of tuition collection,
and reduces delinquencies. Parents complete a FACTS form, choosing a monthly
due date and method of payment. FACTS is not
a loan, and there are no credit checks or interest charges. Blanchet Catholic
School is on an 11-month cycle with payments beginning in August and ending
in June.
Is there a discount for paying in full?
Yes, families who are not receiving financial assistance qualify for a
2% discount if paid in full prior to June 30, 2008.
General
Does the school follow a yearly calendar similar to public schools in
the area?
The calendar is very similar to the Salem-Keizer calendar. School typically
begins after Labor Day and ends in the middle of June. Spring break and
Christmas vacation usually coincide with public school vacations.
Is the campus a closed campus?
Yes, once students arrive at school they are to remain on campus the entire
school day unless they have a pre-arranged, excused reason to leave. Students
are not allowed to leave campus for lunch or to have visitors at lunchtime.
What options are available for lunch?
Students may either bring lunch from home or order hot lunch from a
weekly menu. Snacks, pop,
juice and milk are also available each day for lunch and during the morning
break.
Does the school have a dress code?
Yes, the students at Blanchet adhere to a dress code that requires them
to wear collared shirts and non-denim pants or skirts. For more specifics,
visit the "dress code" page under the school policies section of this
website.
Is transportation provided?
Bus transportation is provided for Blanchet students in the morning
and afternoons. Buses pick up students in the parking lots of the four
Salem Catholic churches and buses are available to take students back to
the parish lots after school. Salem-Keizer buses will pick up and drop off students in the
parking lot of the four Salem Catholic churches at the following approximate
times.
