Each Blanchet high school student is required to volunteer at least 20 hours per year. Mid high students volunteer at least ten hours per year. Sixth graders earn their service hours together as a class. We believe service is an important component of a Catholic education and helps youth develop life-long sensitivities to improving the welfare of others. Blanchet students donate over 6,000 hours of service each year to school, civic and church organizations in the greater Salem area. Each class is assigned a particular service theme, such as poverty, the elderly or the environment. Blanchet's service program is organized through its Religion Department. Contact Campus Minister Danielle Wise for further information.

Students who belong to the Friends of Benedictine service club visit nursing home residents twice a month during school hours. Membership is by application only and the club forms each year shortly after the beginning of the school year. Students work together to plan activities and programs for the residents and must complete an end-of-the-year project as part of their club requirement. Twenty-five students currently visit residents at the Providence-Benedictine Nursing Center in Mt. Angel.
