Blanchet is a non-profit organization that depends on parent and community support in order to keep tuition affordable, update its facility, offer tuition assistance and enhance programs. Blanchet tuition does not cover the full cost of education. The school depends on fundraisers, donations and gifts to meet the gap between the amont of tuition charged and the actual cost of a Blanchet education.
As part of the Enrollment Agreement, parents agree to participate in the annual auction (donate goods or cash totaling $100), the annual appeal (any size contribution counts as participation) and the student raffle (sell a total of ten tickets).
Blanchet welcomes community support of our fundraisers and encourages donations and gifts of any kind or size. All sizes of contributions are needed and appreciated. Donors receive prompt acknowledgement for their gifts and are recognized in our annual President's Report which is published each August.
Please see our list of giving opportunties including sponsorships, planned giving and unrestricted gifts. For additional information regarding how you can support the school, contact Toni Nanneman, Development Coordinator or call 503-391-2639 x240.
Ways to Give
Blanchet asks parents to participate in three annual fundraisers which include:
- Annual auction (October)
- Annual fund (winter and spring)
- Student raffle (spring)
These activities are important school activities which support our operating budget and bridge the gap between the amont of tuition charged and the actual cost of a Blanchet education. Blanchet welcomes community support of these fundraisers.
The Archbishop Blanchet Society is a giving society whose members contribute a minimum of $1,000 annually for at least five years. We currently have over 40 members whose gifts help support our operating budget and allow us to provide tuition assistance to qualifying families. Over $350,000 is distributed annually to families who otherwise would not be able to send their children to Blanchet.
Blanchet Society members are invited to Society events, which include a holiday reception and spring social. They also receive special updates about school programs.
All donors who have named Blanchet Catholic in their will or estate plan are considered members of the school's Legacy Society. Our Board of Directors adopted the following resolution: Whereas Blanchet Catholic School wishes to recognize and honor those supporters who have established an estate gift that will one day support Blanchet Catholic School, we hereby created the Legacy Society in special appreciation of their foresight and generosity.

- Purchasing an ad in our Auction catalog
- Purchasing a table sponsorship at our Auction
- Becoming a sponsor at our annual golf tournament, the Cavalier Classic

And much more!
Blanchet wants to ensure that the school serves many future generations of Mid Valley youth. To safeguard Blanchet's legacy, the school has established a Foundation and an endowment and actively promotes planned giving opportunities.
Planned giving allows donors the opportunity to help secure the school's future, while also obtaining some or all of the following benefits:
- Fulfillment of your philanthropic goals
- Income-tax savings through charitable deducations for the value of your gifts
- Avoidance of capital gain tax on contributions of long-term capital gain property
- Income for life for yourself and/or for other beneficiaries
- Increased spendable income
- Elimination of federal estate tax on the value of the interest in the property eventually passing to charity
- Reduced costs and time in estate planning.
One of the simplest ways to benefit Blanchet is to name the school in your will with a general bequest. You should consult your attorney about the applicability of these general statements and the implications to your own situation. Please notify Blanchet if you would like more information about planned giving, or have remembered the school in your estate plan.
When a donor chooses not to specify the way his/her gift may be used, this gift is called "unrestricted." Unrestricted funds are a very powerful form of private support because they allow Blanchet to use them as it sees fit, where current (and often time sensitive) needs are greatest. Unrestricted funds may be used for many kinds of assistance, including:
- Student support
- Faculty support
- Books, collections and supplies purchases
- Technological upgrades
HOW UNRESTRICTED FUNDS ARE USED
Unrestricted funds are used to handle costs that other funding may not cover. Unrestricted funds provide a pool of available resources that can easily be directed to where they are needed most.
Please contact our Development Coordinator, Toni Nanneman at 503-391-2639 x240 to discuss unrestricted gifts.
