Blanchet Catholic School is excited to announce the hiring of Ben Crockett as the new mid high girls basketball coach.

Ben is already a familiar face around Blanchet, having been an active member of our school community for the past several years. Since 2022, he has served as a basketball and baseball coach across multiple grades and levels and has also been a substitute teacher. This year, Ben will continue to grow his role at Blanchet by teaching middle high PE and Seminar for Success classes, making his transition into the midhigh girls A team coaching position a natural fit.

Ben brings a strong combination of coaching experience, educational experience, and a genuine commitment to helping student-athletes grow both on and off the court.

Before joining Blanchet, Ben coached middle school basketball for his alma mater "Panthers" in the Central School District from 2011–2015. In that role, he developed tryout and practice plans, implemented offensive and defensive strategies, and helped prepare student-athletes for competition. His experience working with middle school athletes gives him a strong understanding of the unique opportunities and challenges that come with this important stage of a student-athlete’s development.

Ben holds a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from Western Oregon University, along with a minor in Sports Leadership. His academic preparation included teaching methods, biomechanics, kinesiology, motor learning, anatomy and physiology, and movement education.

As a coach, Ben emphasizes fundamentals, communication, accountability, and, perhaps most importantly, having fun. His philosophy is centered on understanding the strengths of each player and putting student-athletes in positions where they can be successful. He also believes that success on the court goes hand in hand with strong academics, good citizenship, sportsmanship, and character.

With his experience as a coach, educator, and familiar face of the Blanchet community, Ben is uniquely positioned to help our mid high athletes grow as players, students, teammates, and young people. We are thrilled to welcome him into this new role and look forward to seeing the impact he will have on our student-athletes.
