Welcome Back - 2026-27

Dear Blanchet Catholic Faculty & Staff,

Welcome to our 2026-27 school year! I hope each of you has had a restful and productive break and is taking the opportunity to enjoy the final weeks of summer. On behalf of the administration, I am thrilled to welcome you back for the 2026-27 academic year. Your dedication, passion, and commitment to our students continue to make Blanchet Catholic School an exceptional learning community. We are excited about the coming school year and ready to work together to make it Blanchet’s best year ever.

Personnel
We have a handful of new staff members who are primed to join our team this fall, including:

• Kiernan Heinz - Science and Social Studies
• Kelsey Tobias - Physical Education and Health
• Mark Rodli - Maintenance & Transportation

In-Service Week Overview
The following is an outline of the scheduled activities for the In-Service week. The in-service week is an important time for us to prepare for the upcoming year, and we have scheduled a few meetings and events to help make this possible. However, I know it is also very important that faculty and staff have time to work independently to get ready for the year.  Therefore, outside of these scheduled times (listed below), faculty and staff are free to use the rest of the week however they see fit to get ready for the year.

Please note the items listed at the bottom of the weekly schedule and submit those to Robin Smith by September 8.  Please let Robin know if you have any conflicts or questions with these scheduled meetings.  Coaches are asked to schedule practices around these meeting times during our In-Service week.

Thursday, August 27 - New Teacher Orientation
9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. in Blanchet Boardroom (lunch provided)

Monday, August 31 - Faculty/Staff Meeting
9:00 a.m. - Noon     Faculty/Staff meeting in LSC at Blanchet
Noon - 12:30 p.m.    Lunch provided
12:30 p.m. - 1:30 p.m.    First Aid/CPR training in LSC at Blanchet

Tuesday, September 1- Retreat Day @ Queen of Angels Monastery, Mt Angel

• 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Faculty/Staff retreat at the Queen of Angels Monastery, Chapter Room 
  (** Please note this is a different location than previous years)
  Address: 840 South Main Street, Mount Angel, Oregon 97362
• 9:00 a.m. Mass at Queen of Angels Chapel, on the second floor of the Hospitality Center on the Queen of Angels Monastery campus.  Please arrive by 8:45 a.m.
• Our retreat will take place in the Chapter Room, also on the second floor,  immediately after Mass.
• Lunch will be provided.  Please order your lunch using the information below by 5:00 p.m. on August 31.  Do not order drinks; those will be provided.

Wednesday, September 2 - New Student Orientation (Grades 7-12)

• 12:00 p.m.- 7:00 p.m.    Student/Staff Pictures All staff are required to get an updated photo during this time.
• 5:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.    New Student Orientation
  Each faculty/staff member needs to sign up for a shift to help cover the various activities during this day.  Staff who attend and help with the New Student Orientation for new 6th graders on Wednesday, August 26 are not required to attend the New Student Orientation on September 2.  Please register for your duty at www.blanchetcatholicschool.com/staff.

Thursday, September 3 
8:45 a.m. - Noon     Faculty Meeting; Presenter Carrie Bonnett

Friday, September 4
No meetings are scheduled - teachers can use this time to prepare for the start of the school year.

Please submit the following items to Robin by Tuesday, September 8:

• Updated Syllabus, Scope & Sequence for each class you teach and put in the shared drive.
• Emergency Sub Plan for each class you teach   
• Updated Contact Information form
• Staff Handbook Review Sheet Confirmation
• Please email certification to Jaclyn Becker when you have completed your annual Safe Environment training.

I am excited about our upcoming school year and confident we can make it an outstanding year for our school community.  I look forward to seeing all of you back here on campus at the end of August.
