Welcome to your 2026-27 Back-to-School Checklist for Parents and Students.

The Back-to-School Checklist has several items in the dropdown menus that are important for the start of school. Please read the ‘Important Back to School Information’ section thoroughly and review the ‘General Information’ section that pertains to you and your student.

  • 6th Grade New Student Orientation — August 26 at 5 p.m.
  • 7—12th Grade New Student Orientation — September 2 at 5 p.m.
  • Returning Student Schedule Pickup and Photo Day — September 2 from noon to 4 p.m.

Please remember that all students must be in dress code for photos taken at both New Student Orientations and for returning student schedule pickup and photo day.

2026-27 Academic Calendar

Blanchet's Academic Calendar is a master schedule that outlines the key dates for an instructional year. It serves as a vital roadmap for students, faculty, and staff, detailing class start and end dates, holidays, half days, in-service days, examination periods, and graduation timelines.  This schedule is subject to change during the course of the school year.

New & Returning Student Schedule Pick-Up/Orientation

NEW STUDENT ORIENTATIONS

Our New Student Orientations are events designed to help students transitioning to Blanchet feel more comfortable and prepared. We provide dinner for the students and their parents.

  • School photos — Students must be dress code compliant for school photos.
  • Pick-up Class Schedules
  • Locate your locker and make sure you can open it!
  • A walk-through of where students' classes are located.
  • An introduction to staff and classmates, and information about school policies, resources, and expectations. 

Our goal is to ease the anxiety associated with starting a new school and build a sense of community. 

  • 6th Grade New Student Orientation: Wednesday, August 26 at 5:00 p.m.
    *6th grade families who are unable to attend the 6th Grade Orientation can attend the 7th-12th Grade New Student Orientation on September 2.
     
  • 7th - 12th Grade New Student Orientation: Wednesday, September 2 at 5:00 p.m.

RETURNING STUDENT SCHEDULE PICK-UP

All returning students must report to campus in dress code on Wednesday, September 2, to have their school photo taken and pick up their schedules anytime between 12:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.  Students will also receive their yearbooks, an academic calendar magnet, and school T-shirts.

First Day of School - Sept 8

We look forward to starting the year with you on Tuesday, September 8, which is a half-day schedule with no early bird classes.  School begins at 8:35 a.m. and concludes at 12:05 p.m. Buses will leave by 12:15 p.m.  Staff will be available to ensure students take the correct bus.

Class Schedules
  • Students completed forecasting for class schedules in the spring; all information on our courses can be found in our Course Catalog on the Academics/Courses webpage.
  • Students' Schedules and a Master School Schedule will be published on August 24th. This will allow students to see their enrolled classes and the available course options. 
    Student class schedules will be printed for students when they arrive for New Student Orientation or Returning Student Schedule Pick Up.
  • Schedule change requests are due before the first day of school, September 8th.
  • As our schedules are finalized for the start of school, schedule changes, after that date, will be limited.
  • Most of our classes are yearlong, though some electives are offered as a semester class. As students review their classes, they should confirm their second-semester choices as well.
  • Once the master schedule is complete, it will be posted on the Academics/Courses webpage. There, students can review options to make changes to their schedules.

Attendance & Appointments

To help us ensure the safety and well-being of every student, please notify the school whenever a student will be absent, arrive late, leave early, or miss part of the school day due to a scheduled appointment.  Timely communication allows us to account for every student accurately, minimizes classroom disruptions, and helps our office staff support students and teachers throughout the day.

Please notify the school if your student will:

  • be absent for the entire school day,
  • arrive late for school,
  • leave early for a medical, dental, or other appointment, or
  • returning to school after an appointment.

Whenever possible, please notify the school before the start of the school day. If your student's plans change during the day, contact the school office as soon as possible.

HOW TO NOTIFY THE SCHOOL

  • reason for the absence, tardy, or early dismissal, and
  • expected arrival or return time (if applicable).

GENERAL ATTENDANCE INFORMATION

  • Students are expected to be in class before the 8:35 a.m. bell to start first period.
  • Students arriving after the first bell are late for school. The attendance office should be notified of any late arrivals or absences before the start of the school day.
  • Please let the attendance office know at least one day before the appointment if your student needs to check out during school hours; it disrupts class when students must be called out of class without prior notice.
  • Please avoid scheduling early student pickups between 2:45 and 3:10 p.m. to minimize classroom disruptions and maintain a safe, efficient dismissal process. If an appointment requires your child to leave during this time, please notify the school office the morning of the scheduled appointment.

Device Requirements & Loan Agreements

BLANCHET DEVICE REQUIREMENTS

  • In the 2026–27 school year, high school students are required to bring a personally owned device to class.  
  • Mid-high students in grades 6 through 8 may bring their own devices but also have the option to rent a device from Blanchet. 

Recommended devices include a Chromebook, Windows or Mac laptop, iPad or equivalent.  Device specifications include:

  • Wi-Fi capable
  • Minimum 10-inch screen
  • Keyboard and touchpad
  • 6+ hours battery life
  • Compatible with Google Suite

Cell phones are NOT considered a learning device and will not be allowed in the classroom.

DEVICE LOAN CONDITIONS FOR MID-HIGH STUDENTS

A device will be loaned to a student under the following conditions:

  • Devices will be loaned to middle school students in grades 6 through 8.  
  • Use of this equipment for any purpose that is in contradiction to the Technology Policy outlined in the Parent-Student Handbook may result in loss of privileges.
  • Blanchet does not permit unethical use of the Internet, email, or any other media. Violation of this may result in the loss of device loan privileges and disciplinary action by the school.
  • The configuration of the hardware equipment and all accompanying software may not be altered.
  • Parents/guardians accept financial responsibility for costs related to damage to the device, exceeding the rental fee up to an additional $150.
  • The device should be transported in the provided protective case or a protective case purchased by the students. It should not be placed unprotected in the student's school bag.
  • The device, which is the property of Blanchet, must be returned before the end of the 2026-2027 school year, or in the event of a school change or early withdrawal.
  • Students are the sole individual responsible for their device and should not loan it out or give it to other students.
  • If during the year, the device has issues caused by regular wear and tear, the device will be fixed or replaced by Blanchet. If the damage is caused through other means, the financial responsibility will fall on the student/family.

All Blanchet devices will allow only the checked-out user to log in. Blanchet Chromebook and Google Accounts are connected to our cloud web filtering service. Any attempts to bypass or disable these services will result in a forfeit of the student's ability to use the device.

There is a non-refundable Chromebook Rental fee of $100.  Please submit a form for each student requesting a device. Each device after the first is a reduced fee of $50.

Forms submitted by Aug 26th will have their device ready by the first day of school. Afterward, expect a turnaround of about a week to get your device checked out to you.

Dress Code and Appearance Standards

Blanchet requires students to follow grooming and appearance standards that convey a seriousness of purpose regarding their job as students, while allowing for appropriate individual self-expression.

All students are required to wear an appropriate top or collared shirt and shorts/pants/skirts (no athletic/athleisure/denim) free of rips, tears, and holes that have belt loops and fully concealed undergarments. Closed-toed shoes with socks are required. Flip-flops, moccasins, slides, or sandals are prohibited.

Liturgy attire is required on Mass schedules and consists of following the dress code or even dressing up.

The school will allow students to wear modified dress at various times throughout the year, and information regarding appropriate dress on these special days will be communicated by Principal Smith, who has final say on grooming and appearance. FACTS and Google Classroom Access

Credentials and login instructions for FACTS Family Portal (grades, payments, and lunches) and Google Classroom (classwork), as well as Blanchet student email (through Gmail), will be communicated to parents and students when they pick up their schedules at New Student Orientation at Schedule Pickup for returning students.

MFA (Multi-Factor Authentication) is now required for the FACTS Family Portal. Details on the MFA login process can be found by clicking on these links for English/Spanish flyers. You can also contact a representative from FACTS with any questions regarding MFA at 866-800-6593.

GOOGLE CLASSROOM 
Blanchet utilizes Google Classroom, and each student logs in with their student email. Parents and guardians can be invited via a link to get daily or weekly emails on their students' progress in each classroom. 

All parents are encouraged to sign up for Google Classroom notifications and to download the Blanchet app on their phone or tablet. To download the Blanchet app, go to the Apple/Android App Store and search for Blanchet Catholic School or BlanchetCavs.

Bus Transportation & Sign-Up

Blanchet is able to offer bus transportation both before and after school. Buses will pick up and drop off students in the parking lot of the four local Catholic churches and elsewhere at the following approximate times. 

  • The Queen of Peace Early Bird Bus picks up at 7:10 a.m. in front of the church.
  • The Queen of Peace 2nd bus picks up and leaves at 8:05 a.m. in the back of the church.  Please see the Queen of Peace Bus guidelines for where to park and meet the Blanchet bus so we do not disrupt Queen of Peace families dropping off.
  • St. Joseph bus stops on the Center Street side in the mornings and after school.
  • St. Luke & Sacred Heart - Blanchet offers morning transportation for families who are coming from the Woodburn/Gervais area. This is only a morning transportation opportunity as there will not be an afternoon run of this route.
  • For students' safety, please pick them up promptly after bus drop-off.

To ensure we provide large enough vehicles for the number of students planning to ride our bus routes on a daily basis, we require families to reserve a spot.  You may reserve a spot by filling out our Bus Sign-Up Form by September 2, 2026.

School Drop-off and Pick-Up

Blanchet has two entrances onto campus — the Market Street entrance (front) and Sunnyview Road entrance (back).  Traffic flow on campus can get congested at times, especially in front of the building.  A couple of ways to help alleviate this problem are to:

  • Use the front and back pick-up areas (highlighted in yellow) to help alleviate the congestion at the Market Street entrance.
  • Pull all the way up to the curbside as close to the car in front of you as you can.
  • Have your student(s) ready to exit your vehicle.
  • Pull all the way forward until you are even with the white cross when using the FRONT drop-off/pick-up area.
  • Students can enter through any of the Mid-High Commons doors using their ID cards at the BACK drop-off/pick-up area.
  • It is recommended that parents not line up at either pick-up start zone before 3:00 p.m.
  • Please avoid scheduling early student pickups between 2:45 and 3:10 p.m. to minimize classroom disruptions and maintain a safe, efficient dismissal process. If an appointment requires your child to leave during this time, please notify the school office the morning of the scheduled appointment.  

In addition, please make sure to drive slowly while on campus.  We have students all over the campus coming and going from various activities, practices and games.  We greatly appreciate your help in this matter.

Communication at Blanchet

Blanchet uses many tools to ensure that our students and families stay up to date on academics, activities, events, and all important communications.  Below is a summary of these tools.

FACTS Student Information System

FACTS Student Information Software gives you, the busy parent, an opportunity to get more involved in your child’s academic progress and future success – all via the Internet!  It includes:

FACTS FAMILY PORTAL

A private and secure parent portal that will allow parents to view academic information specific to their children, while protecting their children’s information from others. You may view your child’s grades, attendance, homework, progress reports, report cards, etc. as well as other useful school information. You can also communicate with teachers and other school staff online whenever necessary. All you need is an Internet-capable device. 

To access our easy-to-use FACTS Family Portal:

  1. Make sure that the school has your email address in FACTS.  
  2. In Google Chrome, Firefox, or Safari, go to www.blanchetcatholicschool.com/parents
  3. Click on the FACTS: ParentsWeb logo
  4. Type the school's District Code, which is BL-OR
  5. If you already have an account, type in your username and password and click on Login.
  6. If you do not already have an account, click Create New ParentsWeb Account.

FACTS EMAIL AND PARENT ALERT

Blanchet will use FACTS email to communicate specific messages to families of Blanchet students.  There is also a feature called Parent Alert that allows us to text or send voice messages about important news, such as school closures.

Blanchet utilizes a communication system called ParentAlert to ensure we can quickly reach you during emergencies or unexpected events, such as power outages or inclement weather closings.  ParentAlert allows us to send automated phone calls, emails, and text messages within minutes, keeping you informed with real-time updates when they matter most.  In addition, parents can manage their communication preferences and choose how to receive messages in FACTS Family Portal > Family > Family Home > Preferences.

To ensure you’re receiving important updates, please complete the following steps:

Opt-In for Text Messages
On Friday, July 31, we’ll send a ParentAlert message prompting you to opt in. Please reply “Yes” to that message to enable text notifications for at least one parent/guardian.
If you'd like to opt in sooner, simply text Yes to 79041. (Note: Your number must already be on file in ParentAlert to receive text messages.)

Weekly Newsletters

Blanchet sends out a weekly newsletter to our families on Friday afternoons during the school year.  To receive the newsletter, please make sure your email address is listed correctly in your ParentsWeb account. We sometimes get contacted by families who say they haven't received our communications. Please check your spam mail to make sure our communications are not getting lost there.  If you still are not receiving the weekly email, please send an email to blanchet@blanchetcatholicschool.com.

BlanchetCavs Mobile App

Blanchet has a phone app that allows you to access everything from grades and homework to lunch menus and calendars.  If you don't have the mobile app yet, this would be a great time to install it on your phone and get connected to Blanchet!  Go to the Apple/Adroid App Store and search for Blanchet Catholic School or BlanchetCavs.

Just a reminder that any of the icons with the 'FACTS' hat (announcements, lunch, grades, etc) will not be available until the end of August when schedules are ready.  The app is available on the Apple/Android App Store.

Make sure you download the Blanchet Catholic School app, BlanchetCavs, because it is FREE.  If you download the FACTS Family App it will want to charge you.

Lunch Program

Lunch will take place in the Lee Student Center for all grade levels. Blanchet will offer hot and cold options through a serving line.

Lunch entrées can be ordered online through the FACTS Family Portal the evening before, or students may place their order during first period on the day they would like lunch.  All other items can be purchased when they pick up their order at lunchtime. 

Students who pre-order their entrées will be served first. Students who do not order entrées in advance will choose from the remaining options after students with pre-orders have been served.

The cost of a full lunch is approximately $5.25 (varies by item). A full lunch includes an entrée and a side. Money for lunches comes through the FACTS Family Portal. Students must have their student ID card at lunch to access this money.

General School Information

Bell Schedules for 2026-27

To better serve our students and improve the flow of the school day, Blanchet Catholic School has updated the bell schedule for the 2026–27 school year. The most significant change is the addition of separate lunch periods for our High School and Mid-High students, helping provide a more comfortable lunch environment and a smoother transition between classes.

Because the school year includes a variety of events and activities, Blanchet uses several bell schedules throughout the year. We have eight schedules that may be used during the school year including, Regular Schedule, Morning Assembly Schedule, Buddies Schedule, Late Start Schedule, Half-Day Schedule, Late Morning Mass Schedule, Mid-Morning Mass Schedule, and Short Assembly Schedule.  Below are the two most commonly used schedules:

Each schedule lists the start and end times for every class period for both High School and Mid-High students. While the Regular Schedule will be used most often, alternate schedules will be implemented on designated days for assemblies, Masses, Buddies activities, late starts, and other special events.

Families will be notified in advance whenever an alternate bell schedule is in effect. We encourage students and parents to become familiar with these schedules and refer to them throughout the school year.

Campus Ministry

Faith is at the heart of the Blanchet Catholic School experience. Approximately 70% of our students are Catholic, and we welcome students from a variety of faith traditions who enrich our diverse and supportive community.

All Blanchet students, grades 6-12, are enrolled in a required religion class. The subject changes for each grade level.  Religion classes, prayer services, twice-monthly Masses and class retreats are methods in which spirituality is deepened at Blanchet Catholic School.

Priests from parishes throughout the Mid-Valley celebrate Mass at Blanchet. The entire school community, including students, faculty and staff, gathers together to celebrate Mass.

Blanchet Catholic School's Chapel of Saint Patrick was dedicated on June 4, 2000. The addition of a beautiful and functional chapel was an important milestone in the growth of the school as an academic and spiritual home for its students, teachers, families and supporters. The Chapel of Saint Patrick honors the legacy of Monsignor Charles Patrick Taaffe, who served on Blanchet's Board of Directors for many years.

Blanchet employs a Campus Minister, Danielle Wise, who coordinates the religious activities and community service programs. Mrs. Wise also advises a student Spirituality Team whose members help plan Masses and retreats.

Each year students attend class retreats designed to foster spiritual development. Some retreats take place on campus while others are held off-site and each provides a time for prayer, character building and personal growth. 

The Junior Encounter is a unique, two-day retreat held at Aldersgate. Seniors plan and organize this special annual event for their junior classmates.

Clubs and Student Activities

One of the many benefits of attending Blanchet Catholic School is the ability for students to participate in several activities. Students are limited only by their time and interests and are encouraged to experience Blanchet's many activities and club offerings. Blanchet's small size allows students to hold leadership positions in several activities.

At Blanchet Catholic School, clubs have been established to meet our students' needs. As we grow, additional clubs or groups can be formed in accordance with Oregon Schools Activities Association guidelines. A group of students with a similar interest may petition the student government and administration to become a club. If they meet qualifications and are approved, a club may be formed.

The mid-high and high school student councils organize student activities, such as dances and pep assemblies. Annual school traditions, such as Spirit Week and Field Day, unite the campus community.

Please note: Several Blanchet clubs require students to apply for membership. Clubs are introduced at an assembly at the beginning of the school year. If students have any questions about participation or requirements, they are encouraged to contact the club advisor.

Blanchet Catholic School offers several wonderful programs in the fine and performing arts.  Students can enroll in orchestra, choir and choose from a number of visual arts classes, as well as participate in mid high and high school drama.  Choir, orchestra and drama performances are held in the school's beautiful Wiegand Arts Center.

Counseling and Advising

Blanchet Catholic School has a wonderful School Counselor, Mrs. Shayla Brown. 

As the school counselor, Shayla's role is to support our students in their personal and academic development, as well as in planning for life beyond high school. Our program is focused on helping each student navigate their middle and high school years with confidence and emerge well-prepared for their next steps—whether that be college, a career, or another pursuit.

Immunization Information

Oregon law requires that children catch up on their immunizations for school and child care. Please review the following documents if your child needs to be immunized.

 

Safety Protocols

As we head back to school this Fall, we want all parents and students to be informed about the safety protocols. At Blanchet, student and staff safety is of the utmost importance, and we want you to know the safety and security measures and practices that are in place and that will be carried out daily.

Our administrative team and board members routinely discuss security expectations related to the security of all outside entrance doors and heightened alertness at the front entrance doors, where students, staff, visitors, and the public enter. Security cameras are routinely monitored at the front entrance, exterior of the school, and throughout the school building. Additionally, the school engages in emergency drills for fire drills, shelter-in-place drills, evacuations, and lockdown procedures throughout the school year.

ADULT SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • All faculty and staff are required to wear their appropriate photo identification at all times.
  • All parents, guests, and visitors will be asked to come to the front doors and ring the buzzer on the right side of the entrance. Once you are buzzed in, you must check in at reception and be issued a visitor's pass.  The pass must be returned when you leave the building.
  • If a guest has an appointment with a faculty/staff member or administrator, you should check in and wait for that person to meet you in the front lobby.

STUDENT SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Campus Safety — Students will be instructed not to allow anyone into the building through any back or side doors.  All parents, guests, and visitors must enter through the front entrance and check in.
  • Building Entrance — Students must use their identification badge to get around the building, including the front door, mid-high entrance, and science building entrances.
  • Meal Time — Students must have their identification badge to pick up their ordered lunches or snacks.  Students without badges must go to the back of the line until all students with badges have been served.
  • Lost ID Badges — If a student identification badge is lost or stolen, students must report this to the main office so that the old badge can be deactivated and a new one issued.  If students lose their badge, they can get a new one from the main office.  New badges cost $10.
  • Attendance — If your student will be late to school or absent for the entire day, please notify the attendance office before 8:35 a.m. each day of their absence or tardiness.
  • Appointment — Please notify the attendance office at least one day before the appointment if your student must check out during school hours.  It disrupts the classroom when students are called out of class without prior notification.

GENERAL PHOTO INFORMATION:

  • Please make sure your student is prepared and is dressed in dress-code-appropriate clothing.
  • We do not use a green screen—our background is a neutral gray, so there's no need to worry about your child’s clothing color. However, we recommend considering the gray background when selecting an outfit to avoid clashing colors or outfits that closely match the background.
  • Makeup/Retake Day is scheduled for October 1, 2026.

To be eligible to play a sport, your student needs to receive clearance from the Athletic Department. Please complete the following steps:

True Blue Gala - Donate, Sponsor, Attend and Volunteer

 

TRUE BLUE GALA 2026

We’re so excited to share our annual benefit auction with the entire Blanchet community!  Blanchet’s True Blue Gala is a lovely evening that includes a catered dinner, entertainment, and live auction on Saturday, November 21, 2026. This is Blanchet’s largest fundraiser, and parent support of the auction is critical to its success.  

Here’s how you can be involved…

DONATE

  • Each family is responsible for donating $150 to the auction.  This can include donations of cash, gift cards, or a new, unused item with a value of $150 or more. Click here to donate cash.
     
  • Don’t know what to donate?  Please review our donation wishlist or visit our Amazon wishlist to make a purchase and have it shipped directly to the school. Click here to view our donation wishlist.
     
  • Blanchet families can also solicit auction donations with a value of $150 or greater from friends, family, and business associates, and these donations can count as your contribution.

VOLUNTEER

  • Parents can also participate by volunteering.  In addition to being our largest and most important fundraiser, the auction is our largest volunteer effort and biggest social occasion of the year.  Working on the auction is a great way to meet fellow parents and to learn more about our school community.
     
  • Check the auction website (www.blanchetcatholicschool.com/auction) or parents webpage (www.blanchetcatholicschool.com/parents) to sign up.  Auction volunteer shifts will be posted by October 1.

ATTEND

  • Registration to attend opens on October 26, 2026, and information will be sent out to the entire Blanchet community.  This is a wonderful social event and an opportunity to meet more of the Blanchet family.

Annual Appeal and Student Raffle

 

2026-27 ANNUAL APPEAL

Blanchet Catholic School is blessed by a generous and dedicated community that believes in the transformative power of a Catholic education. Because of this extraordinary support, we are able to keep tuition among the most affordable of comparable private schools in Oregon while continuing to provide an exceptional educational experience.

Our mission is to make a Blanchet education accessible to every family who desires one. More than 50% of our students receive tuition assistance each year, ensuring that financial circumstances are never a barrier to the opportunities and values a Blanchet education provides.

As part of the Enrollment Agreement, every Blanchet family is asked to participate in the Annual Appeal by making a gift each school year. While there is no minimum donation amount, every family's participation demonstrates a shared commitment to our mission and helps strengthen the Blanchet community.

Gifts to the Annual Appeal support the school's greatest needs, including academic programs, faculty and staff salaries, tuition assistance, campus operations, technology, facilities, and student enrichment opportunities. Every contribution helps us fulfill our mission of preparing students for college, for life, and for lives rooted in faith, service, and leadership.

A gift to Blanchet is more than a donation—it is an investment in the future of our students and the lasting impact they will have on their communities and the world.

Donations to the 2026–2027 Annual Appeal may be made at any time during the school year through June 30, 2027. Gifts can be mailed to the Business Office or made conveniently through the BlanchetCAVS Family Mobile App or the Parents page on the Blanchet Catholic School website.

2026-27 STUDENT RAFFLE

Each spring, the Blanchet Catholic School Development Team partners with Student Leadership to organize the annual Student Raffle. This school-wide fundraiser gives students the opportunity to support programs and activities that enhance the Blanchet experience while developing leadership, responsibility, and school spirit.

Funds raised through the Student Raffle directly benefit students and student programs, including New Student Orientation, CAV Spirit Day, class retreats, Grandparents Day, student activities, and many other programs throughout the school year.

The 2026–2027 Student Raffle will be held April 15 through May 3, 2027. Additional information, including raffle ticket sales, prizes, and important dates, will be shared with families as the event approaches.

The success of the Student Raffle depends on the generosity of our school community and local business partners. We are always seeking donations of raffle prizes as well as families and businesses interested in sponsoring the raffle.
